CSADV Needs Your Help
Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault do not take a vacation during the summer months. In fact, the number of those seeking shelter services continues to rise. One reason for this is that victims do not have to worry about interrupting their children's education. Because of the increase, CSADV is in need of personal care items, especially bath towels, toothpaste, diapers size 5 & 6, African American hair products, Walmart & HyVee gift cards, pillows, shampoo & conditionaer, deodorant, laundry soap, and laundry baskets. Also, with summer in full swing, CSADV is looking for you to help roundup items that can be used for families in shelter during the summer months-Movie theater passes, pool passes, miniature golf passes, and pizza certificates & Chuck E. Cheese certificates provide some much needed fun and relaxation time.
If you need or want help please call the 24 hour toll-free crisis line at 258-7233 or 1-800-982-7233.

Building Healthy Families
Building Healthy Families: One characteristic of a strong, healthy family is that they anticipate and plan for change. They are flexible, and expect that they will have to make adjustments as children grow and family life changes. For example, a young boy grows to be a young teen who is now more independent and capable, and would benefit from being given more freedom, responsibility and respect within the family. In waht ways is your family changing? Are you recognixing and adapting to these changes in a healthy way?Lutheran Family Service of Iowa (712)276-9000.

Seventy Years
By the time you're 70 years old, you will have spent nearly a quarter of a century sleeping. The average person spends about 23 of his or her life in bed. Here are estimates of how most Americans spend their waking hours during those 70 years:

  • 11 years working
  • 7 years in leisure pursuits
  • 6 years eating
  • 5 years grooming
  • 4 years being educated
  • 3 years talking
  • 2 years reading
  • 6 months worshiping God

Perhaps Sunday morning worship isn't as long as it seems.
