Below is a BLOG or daily diary from the SOP Youth Group
while they are at the NYG in New Orleans. It will be updated
each night, so check back to see what the group did today!
DAY-1:
The group made it to New Orleans safe and sound!
DAY-2:
Today's agenda called for a trip to the Audobon Zoo of New Orleans, Laura said it was HOT (Humidity is 89% and rising as of the 9:30pm upate) but wonderful, they had a lot of fun. They've received their official NYG green backpacks and shirts and are all healthy and having a blast. They're doing more walking than anticipated, all are doing well except Laura with her asthma and injured foot, but she's a trouper!! They call Micah their shepherd, he leads them and is tall enough to follow in the crowds and Laura and PT are the sheepdogs making sure no one strays. :)
If you were able to watch the live streaming video of the Opening at the NYG in the Superdome (linked above) you saw what an amazing and incredible time they had!! A drama/dance, awesome music, sand painter, incredible speaker, words fail how really awesome it is to be there were 20,000 other believers worshiping our God. For those watching, SOP Youth were in Section 144 of the Superdome, Laura said if the camera goes from the stage to the back they are on the right hand side-the first section going up from the floor. They'll try to sit here each night so we can maybe get a glimpse of them.
We'll get more pictures added as we receive them, keep checking back for more updates and continue to pray for not only our youth & counselors, but all those attending the NYG this year!

SOP Youth's View of the Mass Event on Sunday-AWESOME!
Laura's NYG Blog Post: Wow what a day. The first complete day has ended. We are walking to the Convention Center in the morning. Getting picked up to go to the Dome at 6 pm and then walking back to the hotel after the mass event. The NYG has asked that buses are used as little as possible due to the large number of people walking. So far it hasn't been too bad. We left the hotel at 8 am this morning and got back at 1030 pm. It is really hot and the food at the convention center is really expensive. Tomorrow we have a plan to meet and walk to the riverfront or french quarter for lunch and supper at fast food. All are well, a little cranky (including me), and a bit tired. My camera broke so all I have is pictures from yesterday. I am going to try and find time to replace it tomorrow. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Laura
DAY-3: Today the SOP Youth and their slightly tired leaders took it a bit easier. After Bible Study and lunch on the river, they spent time in the commons and activity room and then went to a concert-Stellar Kart-while Laura stayed back to get organized and rest her injured foot a bit (in spite of all the walking it is still healing). They are on the Group C schedule for those following along.
If you have caught any of the livestreams of the nightly mass events you've seen how absolutely amazing the NYG really is, or at least a massive part of it! 25,000 worshiping God together, hearing some amazing stories, awesome music, and seriously funny entertainment!!! The Skit Guys have been VERY funny, along with an illusionist, the ongoing series The Network, and some incredible speakers. If you haven't been able to watch along (follow the above link), I highly recommend it, its really incredible. We'll be showing it here at the church in the sanctuary on the big screen at 7:30pm each night, join us!!!
Tomorrow they will sleep in a bit to get some much needed rest and then off for another fun day!! Also, if your kids have sent any pictures, please forward them to me (Lisa) at soplm@longlines.com.
Praise God for such an incredible National Youth Gathering and for all those being impacted by it!!!!
