LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends in Christ,
It is with much joy and excitement that Shepherd of Peace is announcing Little Lambs Preschool and Child Care Center is reopening August 23rd, just in time for school. I am Alyce Davis. I have been a Preschool Director for 13 years and I am the new Director of Little Lambs. I have been working to ensure that Little Lambs will soon be certified under DHS’ IQ4K (Iowa Quality for Kids). I have most of the paperwork in order, hired our staff, have background checks done, and the remodel is moving along. We are just waiting for the remodel to be done to invite the Fire Marshall back for a final inspection.
God has blessed us with an amazing opportunity to remodel our entire facility from floors to ceilings, as well as the bathrooms and kitchen. Many, many, wonderful volunteers have been working very hard painting the walls in the fellowship hall, re-varnishing all of the woodwork in the sanctuary, recovering the pews and upgrading our AV technology. Meanwhile, the Little Lambs staff has been working on new policies, new and safe procedures and we have reorganized our Preschool and Child Care so that it is certified by the state and is aligned to caring for our children. I am glad God has brought us together so that we can celebrate this reopening.

I would love to talk to you about all of our changes. One change is that we are now only serving children 3-5 years of age in the Preschool (23 openings) and 5-12 years of age in the Extended Care Program for school agers (15 openings). Smaller class sizes ensure a better overall experience and safe supervision. I hope you are as excited about our changes as we are!

Alyce Strong Davis is the new Director of Little Lambs Preschool and Child Care
at Shepherd of Peace. She graduated from Concordia College, Seward, with her teaching degree
and from Wayne State College with her Master’s in Administration. When Alyce is not teaching,
she enjoys playing with her grandkids, Attalie and Maddox. Her favorite pastime activity is to read,
but she also golfs, plays piano and bowls. When asked what the best part of working with children is,
she said, “I love teaching about Jesus and seeing kids get excited about learning.”
She is in her 42nd year of teaching and 14th year as a director and she still loves it!
